Nicole Hogstrand is a Swedish cellist and composer residing in Copenhagen since 2009. Here she is a dedicated member of the new music and experimental music scene, committed to dismantling hierarchies and seeking authenticity and community, especially expressed through her ensembles Halvcirkel, Damkapellet and Crush String Collective. As a performer of composed and improvised music she often collaborates with various artists and organisations in different artistic fields. Her expansive interest have led to countless collaborations and international appearances, for example with Terry Riley, Ellen Fullmann, Ellen Arkbro, Michelle Moeller, Blue Lake, Valgeir Sigurdsson, Lo Kristensson, Agnes Kofoed, Christian Balvig, Anton Friisgaard, Anders lauge Meldgaard, Sofie Birch and many more. Hogstrand studied the Royal Danish Academy of Music and Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University, Illinois, where she acquired a masters in cello performance.
