Vincent Yuen Ruiz is a bassist and composer from Geneva. He completed a Bachelor’s degree in jazz double bass at Jazzcampus Basel and a Master’s degree in music performance at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. Ruiz was the double bassist of the internationally successful Swiss minimal/post-jazz group Plaistow. Since 2017, he has been a member of Insub Meta Orchestra.
 
He tours extensively throughout Europe, Russia, and Japan, performing at venues and festivals including the London Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Bimhuis, Klub Katarakt, and the Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris. He has collaborated with a wide range of musicians, such as Magnus Granberg, Michael Pisaro, Greta Eacott, d’incise, Emanuele Maniscalco, Kresten Osgood, Diatribes, and Ryota Miyake.
 
His 2021 debut album, Le seul salut que je connaisse, brings together musicians from the Scandinavian baroque scene with key figures from the international experimental music world. In addition to his work as a performer, his compositional output includes music for film and dance. These works have been showcased at the New York Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt.
