Reinier van Houdt is a Dutch composer/pianist based in Rotterdam. He started working with tape recorders, radio's, objects and various string-instruments at a young age. He studied piano at the Liszt-Akademie in Budapest & the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He developed a fascination for matters that escape notation: sound, timing, space, physicality, memory, noise, environment - points beyond composition, interpretation and improvisation.

​Aside from his own music, he premiered music by Robert Ashley, Alvin Curran, Kaikhosru Sorabji, Francisco López, Charlemagne Palestine, Nomi Epstein, Yannis Kyriakides, Maria de Alvear, Jerry Hunt, Michael Pisaro, Walter Marchetti, Alessandro Bosetti. He has also worked with John Cage, Alvin Lucier, Luc Ferrari, Peter Ablinger and Christian Marclay. Van Houdt plays in David Tibet's Current 93, with whom he made 8 albums with contributions by people like Nick Cave, John Zorn, Antony Hegarty, Tony McPhee, Jack Barnett, Ossian Brown. He is also one of the moving forces behind the experimental music collective MAZE.

Reinier van Houdt released 14 solo albums and performed on festivals like Meltdown London, Märzmusik and CTM Berlin, Angelica Bologna, Unsound Krakow, Riverrun Albi, Huddersfield hcmf, Blurred Edges Hamburg, Alternativa Moscow, Art Basel Hong Kong, Primavera Barcelona and many others.
