Happy to announce three upcoming releases on elsewhere for the fall of 2023. This time, for a series of three, we will present three works by contemporary composers that primarily or partially use early music instruments. I am so thrilled to be able to release these fantastic musicians' works. (To be released on November 1, 2023) Ivan Vukosavljević - Slow Roads (elsewhere 027) 'Slow Roads' is an album of eight pieces written by Hague-based Serbian composer Ivan Vukosavljević between 2019 and 2022, for solo 1/4 comma meantone organ. All eight pieces were recorded in 2022 on five different historic organs, dating from the early 16th to mid-17th centuries, located in medieval churches scattered throughout the countryside of the northern Netherlands. Five of the eight pieces were performed by Tineke Steenbrink, co-founder of the Dutch early music ensemble Holland Baroque. Francesca Ajossa, Jan Hage and Lise Morrison performed one piece each. Michael Pisaro-Liu - A room outdoors (Guy Vandromme / Adriaan Severins / Luciana Elizondo / Fabio Gionfrida) (elsewhere 028-2) 'A room outdoors' is a 48 minute piece written in 2006 by Michael Pisaro-Liu for sustaining instrument, harmonium and field recordings. This was the first work in which Pisaro-Liu incorporated field recordings into the score. This double CD contains two different realizations of the piece, one made in Brussels during the lockdown in 2020 and one set up in Cremona in 2023, realized by the following artists: Disc 1 features Belgium-based Guy Vandromme (keyboards) and Adriaan Severins (field recordings and synthesizer), Disc 2 features Italy-based Luciana Elizondo (viola da gamba) and Fabio Gionfrida (field recordings), in collaboration with Guy Vandromme (Indian harmonium). Jürg Frey - Les Signes Passagers (Keiko Shichijo - fortepiano) (elsewhere 029) 'Les signes passagers' is an album of seven pieces for solo fortepiano written by Jürg Frey in 2021, commissioned by the Amsterdam-based pianist/fortepianist Keiko Shichijo. It was premiered by Shichijo on February 5, 2022 at the Concertgebouw Brugge during the SLOW Festival. In the same year, Shichijo performed the piece again at the November Music 2022 and later recorded it for this album in April 2023 at the Concertgebouw Brugge in the presence of the composer. (CD preorders for all three titles will start here on the label’s website
and Bandcamp in mid-September.)
