This album contains three new works by Italian composer Giuliano d'Angiolini, ')))(((', '7 flauti', and '100100', following his previous three albums: 'Simmetrie di ritorno' (Edition RZ, 2010), ‘Cantilena’ (Another Timbre, 2016) and ‘Antifona’ (Another Timbre, 2020).

')))(((' was composed in 2023 for four flutes and sheng or accordion, or six clarinets, and the version here is for four flutes and six clarinets. It is recommended to listen at high volume. 

'7 flauti' was written in 2010 for seven flutes, and '100100' was written in 2023 for 36 flutes. Both '7 flauti' and '100100' follow strict procedures of indeterminacy. Thus, at each performance they sound differently. 

Performers are Manuel Zurria on flute (Track 1, 2, 3) and Paolo Ravaglia on clarinet (Track 1).

I first came to know Giuliano d'Angiolini's work in 2018, shortly after starting my label elsewhere, when I listened to his Cantilena (Another Timbre), a great album that is still one of my favorite releases on AT. Since then, I've been hoping to feature his work on elsewhere one day, so I am deeply honored to be able to release the latest project by d'Angiolini, one of my favorite contemporary composers.  

This album contains three new works by d'Angiolini: a piece for four flutes and six clarinets, a piece for seven flutes and a piece for 36 flutes, all performed by Manuel Zurria on flute and Paolo Ravaglia on clarinet.

CD preorders will start in November.

I am extremely thrilled about this project, which will be a sequel to the 2022 triple album 'lieues d'ombres' with Jürg and Reinier, also on elsewhere.

This new triple album will feature nine more of Jürg Frey's solo piano pieces, including two newly written in 2024, 'Composer, alone' (1) and (2). All tracks will be recorded at The Muziekcentrum van de Omroep (MCO) in Hilversum this September, with the composer's presence.

​Adrián Demoč - Piano (Miroslav Beinhauer) (elsewhere 031)

Piano is an album of three pieces, 'A Luca Marenzio ll', 'Ma fin est mon commencement', and 'Gebrechlichkeit', written by Slovak composer Adrián Demoč between 2018 and 2023. 

'Ma fin est mon commencement' and 'Gebrechlichkeit' were written with three performance options in mind: specific instrumentation, open instrumentation with a similar quality of timbre and register, and a "monochromatic polyphonic" instrument, preferably the piano. 'A Luca Marenzio ll' was originally written as 'A Luca Marenzio' for three instruments, with cello (or viola da gamba) as the required instrument and the other two instruments flexible, and 'A Luca Marenzio II' is the 'well-tempered' counterpart to the original piece for solo piano.​

To be slow and to be still: through his ongoing explorations of repetition, New York–based Swiss composer Samuel Reinhard extends this invitation to both listeners and the musicians who perform his compositions. For Piano and Shō brings together Haruna Higashida, a Tokyo-based gagaku performer active in contemporary music, and Copenhagen-based Canadian pianist Paul Jacob Fossum, who also performed on Reinhard’s 2023 release Two Pianos and String Trio. The album’s two pieces were recorded between Copenhagen and Tokyo, where Reinhard was in residence in 2023.

Samuel Reinhard - For Piano and Shō (elsewhere 032)

'For Piano and Shō' is an album consisting of two pieces written by NY-based Swiss composer Samuel Reinhard. The shō is played by Haruna Higashida, a Tokyo-based gagaku performer who is also active in contemporary music. The piano is played by Copenhagen-based Canadian pianist Paul Jacob Fossum, who also performed on Reinhard's 2023 release, 'Two Pianos and String Trio'. 

The two pieces were recorded partly in Tokyo in 2023, when Reinhard was in residence there, and partly in Copenhagen.
